As a follow on from the sportives, we decided to take groups of riders on cycling trips to Europe. We have taken groups to the Tour of Flanders and Paris Roubaix sportives and also to the Alps, Dolomites and Pyrenees. These alpine trips have proved to be very popular with often a group of 20 riders taking part.
Our trip to ride across the Pyrenees from the Mediterranean coast to the Atlantic was postponed in 2020 but we are hoping that we will be able to ride in June this year on our rearranged dates.
We have some super trips planned – all of which have had to be put back a year. In 2022, we will be running trips to Tuscany, where the focus will be a mixture of good riding but also on food and wine, Venice to Dubrovnik, through 4 countries (Italy, Slovenia, Croatia and Bosnia) along the Dalmatian Coast and the Route des Grande Alpes, a spectacular ride from Lake Geneva to Menton on the Mediterranean Coast, taking in some of the most famous climbs in the Alps used in the Tour de France.
Our latest idea, coming off the back of the Covid-19 pandemic is Bed and Bike. Understandably, a lot of people are reluctant to travel abroad at the moment and are looking at taking cycling trips in the UK.
We have partnered with Welsh Cycling and Visit Wales to create a list of accommodation that offer cyclist friendly facilities in Wales. By cyclist friendly, we mean that they should offer a dry, secure place to store bikes overnight, laundry facilities so wet or dirty kit can be cleaned, a substantial, nutritious breakfast to set riders up properly for the day ahead and ideally some bike tools.
Riders will be able to visit the website http://www.bedandbike.uk (when it is finished) and select properties close to where they wish to ride that they would like to stay in. Accommodation will range from high quality hotels to campsites so every budget is catered for. We will also be uploading suggested cycling routes to the site so riders can just download them and use them on their trip.
